In the context of the Romanian Presidency of the EU ESPON EGTC organised a seminar with the topic „The role of functional areas for territorial cohesion“, which took place on the 19th and 20th of June 2019 in Iasi. Bernd Schuh [1] took part in a workshop led by DG Regio to discuss the relevance of functional cross-border regions in the context of INTERREG programmes in the upcoming programming period 2021-2027. The results of two ESPON projects led by OIR „Territorial Evidence Support of European Territorial Cooperation Programmes“ (TEVI) and „Territorial impact assessment for Cross-Border-Cooperation Programmes“ (TIA CBC) took a prominent part in the discussion. Further information about this event is available on the ESPON-website [2].
