OIR presented the findings of the EU farming employment study at the European Parliament

In December 2019, Ambre Maucorps and Bernd Schuh had the honour to present the key trends and patterns of European agricultural labour markets to the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. They outlined the main results from the study ‘The EU farming employment: current challenges and future prospects’, led by OIR and jointly carried out with CCRI, Red2Red and the University of Tuscia. The presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the MEPs. Major topics such as employment contraction, generational renewal, family farming, diversification of on-farm activities, technological innovation, migrant workers and the role of the CAP to address the identified challenges have been widely discussed. The study is available on the website of the European Parliament.
